a.) Netbook + Desktop combination
-better mobility and longer mobile operation time compared to a laptop, also lower power consumption.
-desktop for gaming, videos, and storage. Also its easier to maintain and repair.

only problem would be the cost (2 units) and synching files

b.) Desktop replacement laptop
-less battery life but decent performance
-more prone to heat problems especially when running demanding apps
-tend to be cheaper unless it breaks
-heavier

CHeck the specs of the Alienware m11x now offering i3 to i5 core. The problem is the video card is still shit compared to my Asus G51vx-rx05 with a gtx260m.

The only other competitor to that would be the Asus N10 with an nvidia 9700m.

Though sadly, I don't know if they would fit your 25-35k budget easily, since especially the alienware has to be shipped out ;)
