Well, Kaoru's story arc is over and she's just his best friend again starting this week.

Sabi ko sa original /a/ na halos walang sumagot, yung tunay na appeal ng kwento niya e yung pagiging down-to-earth at relatable. Para sa mga "normalfags", ika nga. Yung halik sa pusod ay hindi naman talaga mahalaga.

Ilang taon na silang magkaibigan bago pa magka-ibigan. Comfortable sila sa isa't-isa. Nagsa-shopping, nagbi-bilyar, nagki-kilitian, nag-kakagatan sa tenga. Mas appealing na basehan ng romance ito para sa akin kaysa sa romance between strangers.

Yung drama tungkol sa kanyang biyudang ina na mag-aasawa muli ay di nagustuhan ng marami, na sa tingin ko ay dahil mababaw lamang ang kanilang ninanais mula sa palabas. Kung kailan magiging malalim yung kwento ay doon aayaw.

Para sa akin, hindi naman pilit yung drama niya di-tulad ng sabi ng iba. In-establish naman na single mother yung ina niya, at sila lamang sa pamilya, at nangako sila sa isa't-isa na magtutulungan para buhayin ang kanilang mga sarili.

Hindi rin naman unbelievable. Kung panoorin kasi ng wasto, makikita na mahal na mahal niya ang kanyang yumaong ama. Yung kanyang nais na manatili sila ng kanyang ina na silang dalawa lamang ay dahil ayaw niya (at nila dati) na mapalitan ang kanyang ama sa kanyang buhay.

Di makasarili ang ganitong pagmamahal. At biglaan niyang nalaman na magkakaroon siya ng bagong ama. Mali nga naman yung ginawa niyang paglayas, pero maging maunawain naman tayo. Siya na rin ang nagsabi na di niya lang talaga alam ang gagawin dahil sa pagkabigla.

Sabi nga lang ng iba, mas malalim yung drama sa original game kaysa sa palabas. Mukha ngang ganoon kasa parang nawala na lang e. Tapos parang bitin yung ending. Nag-aaksaya kasi ng panahon sa ibang mga characters na wala namang halaga sa kwento nila, kaya mukhang nakapos sa oras.

Pero mas marami namang positive kaysa negative sa kanyang mga episodes. Heartwarming.

Kaya ang kanilang pag-amin sa isa't-isa ng kanilang pag-ibig ay parang wedding wows na rin, at ang kanilang pagtulog ng sabay sa isang kama ay parang honeymoon na nila.

While some of the posters there agreed with us two that the drama wasn't properly integrated, some went further took issue with the storyline itself because they didn't like the drama.

What can one say to that? Just agree to disagree, but not before trying to point out why it's important and not forced, and that slowing down the story was necessary. You can't just downplay the drama. It's part of the story. Adaptation issues aside, what's left for viewers is to like it or not.

Despite flaws at the end of the last episodes, I liked the story. Just hoping for a manga version now which adapts it better.

Well, I felt the message just fine, not so much the mother-daughter link but the fact that they acknowledged their desire and need to stay by each other at the restaurant. The last scene of episode 7, the next day, shows they've finally recognized their developing feelings overnight. That's why their friends prod them to get on with it next episode. And their big confession scene just repeats what they said earlier, with the addition of "I love you", making explicit what was implicit. The full force of the story (parallels etc.) was not fully carried over, there's a shift in focus, but the main point is still there: it is their mutual need to be with - to be there for - each other that brought them together as friends and now brings them closer as lovers.

The story became slower-paced towards the end, became more normal. But besides her character and (regardless of) her hair, it's the intimacy and down-to-earthiness of her story that makes it and her so appealing to me, so I expected and liked that. Only watched for her for those reasons.

They got "So now I come to you, with open arms" covered. If only they had done "Lying beside you, here in the dark" more properly, not just ending it there, but what is more important?

For fun, I translated/adapted the .ass subtitles for episode 7, after getting permission from the fansubbers. I didn't feel like translating a particular scene near the end though. Anyone interested? Even if not, here it is.

I'm also working on editing the episodes themselves to remove unnecessary parts (like other characters), and unsurprisingly it flows better. I'm translating and editing the subtitles for time issues as well. But I'm just learning how, so it's rough. Would anyone be interested in these re-edits and translations?
